Skate Ramp Hand‑Lettering

Skate Ramp

Skate culture played a big part in my teenage years. All the logos, deck designs and aesthetics always have influenced me. When I started doing graphic design and lettering, those were the graphics I mainly had around. Stickers play a big part in the skate culture. All the brands and shops give them away, and everybody sticks them on the boards, notebooks or even randomly on the street.

When I was challenged to paint a skate ramp in Lisbon at the IDB rooftop, I had the idea of covering it up with some big faux stickers with inspirational skate-related quotes.

work in progress

Although I painted the ramp with clean lines and attention to detail, I knew beforehand that the work wouldn't stand up against the skateboards. In the end, I enjoyed seeing the marks of the wheels and the tricks done on the ramp.

As the IDB became a popular spot, it was cool to see random people taking photos of the ramp and post them on social media.
